The drainage system was riddled with problems. The dimpled membrane was not properly anchored to the foundation, allowing dirt and ground debris to work their way behind it. The concrete work was also sloped toward the house instead of away from it, directing water toward the foundation rather than away from it.

With water getting behind the unsecured membrane, the system was effectively defeating the very purpose of having perimeter drainage in the first place.

Unfortunately, the homeowners now face the costly and disruptive task of digging up the entire perimeter of their home and installing the drainage system properly—for the second time.

This is a good reminder that when it comes to foundation drainage, proper installation matters.
